The show is called “A Slow Reveal… In the rapidly changing world of Internet art in the twenty-first century”. There is an essay by the curator, Jennie Fleming. The show includes work by Kate Pullington, Chris Joseph, Andy Campbell, Judi Alston, J.R. Carpenter, Annette Weintraub, Roderick Coover, Mark Amerika, & Jody Zellen.
Baltimore is a fantastic place. I had a large show there at MICA Gallery in Baltimore in 2005 and I really liked the vibe of the place. It seems that there is a really strong underground culture going on.

‘Meanwhile’, an interactive, non-linear film I made in 2006 with my collaborators in the group ‘computer.says.no: Shelley Simmons, Chris Mendis and Jeff Howard has won an award at the CINEMA TOUS ECRANS, 14e Festival International du Film in Geneva Switzerland. Our piece won the Reflet d’Or of the best interactive multimedia fiction. The jury said that “The price is awarded to a piece of work that put the multimedia feature in the center of its conception and thus allows to develop a new narrative experience. This experience wanders from the inflexibility of cinematic narration and of the interactive scenarii of video games.”
We are pretty chuffed and are trying to figure out how we can all get to Switzerland to use the €4000 in production services that comes with the prize.

I’m off to New York next week for an exhibition of ‘88 Constellations’ and ‘A is for Apple’ at the Pace University Digital Gallery. I will be talking on Thursday, November 13 at 6pm. I am showing my work with Michelle Gay who did her MFA years ago at NSCAD. New York should be a blast. Students from the Digital Projects class will be coming down for a class trip and we will be zipping around New York until Tuesday.

I made it out to the VAD Festival in Girona, Spain. Girona is a smallish city North of Barcelona. The festival took place in the city art gallery and had another venue for performances in the evening. I had a great time hanging out with artists from the US, Germany, Quebec, Belgium, and England. ‘88 Constellations’ was installed in the gallery which seemed to get a lot of traffic. The video screenings were great, especially the dance programme.
While I was in that part of Spain I wanted to go visit Walter Benjamin’s grave in the small border town of Port Bou. I made the trip with two artists from the festival and we took a train up to Port Bou, visited WB’s gravesite and even found the hotel where he committed suicide. My motivation for the trip was to research a new project called “The End” that incorporates the story of Benjamin’s death in 1940.
I also made it down to Barcelona where I had a fantastic day exploring the city. I love to wander through a city I don’t know and Barcelona is a great city to explore.
